Sous Chef
Location: Golden Coast Leisure Park, Station Road, Woolacombe, Devon, EX34 7HW
Salary: £12.94 per hour
Hours: Full and part time positions available. Bars and Restaurants are open 7 days per week. Shifts include day times and evenings into early hours as trade demands.
About the Role
Our Sous Chefs work with the Head Chef to arrange the kitchen rota, order stock and ensure that food is prepared to a high standard by the kitchen team. They help supervise and train the kitchen team including line chefs and kitchen porters. All our Chefs help prepare meals and snacks to order throughout the day, producing consistently well presented, high quality and tasty food from our menu and special boards. The Sous Chef is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and ensuring food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety regulations. This role is key to ensuring that we can provide the quality food service that our guests expect, providing them with another option to self-catering and allowing them to spend more precious time with family and friends.
Typical duties and responsibilities include:
- Preparing and cooking food from our regular menu as well as our specials boards in line with company standards
- Maintaining clean premises, clearing and cleaning, ensuring the workstation is kept clean and tidy
- Taking delivery of food stock, checking off delivery notes and ensuring the products are stored at the correct temperatures
- Ensuring all stores, fridges and freezers are kept clean and tidy, whilst ensuring stock is stored correctly and rotated
- Ensuring that all temperature checks are carried out and recorded
About the Person
We are looking for someone with experience as a sous-chef or similar and a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices. The ability to work well under pressure and multi-task in a busy kitchen is essential. To be successful in this role you will need strong organisational skills and good leadership skills. You will need to be enthusiastic, friendly and passionate about food.

We don’t believe in ‘that’s not my job’ so you will need to be adaptable and flexible to help the wider park team meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.
Skills and experience required:
- A passion for well-presented food.
- Experience as a sous chef or similar role.
- A commitment to producing consistent and excellent quality food.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Awareness of stock rotation.
- A relevant catering qualification
